Job Title: Producer
"The Tuskegee Airmen are truly inspiring and it was amazing to be able to talk with them about their experiences."
—Kara Martinelli

2002 Graduate, Associate of Science degree in Video Production, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh

As a producer for Hemlock Films, Kara Martinelli is responsible budget planning, schedules, and travel, as well as making creative decisions. Kara works on films, documentaries, and commercials and her days are always challenging. One day might involve working on spreadsheets while the next could entail flying in a WWII-era bomber to film fighter planes in formation.

Kara, who in 2002 earned her Associate of Science degree in Video Production from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, asserts that one of her biggest accomplishments was working as the producer of the Rise Above trailer for the Red Tail Squadron, a non-profit organization dedicated to telling the story of the Tuskegee Airmen. “It was an honor to be a part of telling that story. The Tuskegee Airmen are truly inspiring and it was amazing to be able to talk with them about their experiences.”

Kara enjoys the ability to tell a story that matters through her work—a skill she fine-tuned during her studies at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. “I feel that the variety of classes that I took that dealt with different areas of film and video production really helped me to understand the components of making a film or television program. This has greatly helped me to work in a variety of positions in the last nine years.”
